Washable Cloth mentral pads can be over and over and over again, saving you money. Can last up to 5 years if cared for properly. Washable, reusable for many years with proper care. The ones made with PUL are moisture proof to help prevent leaks. We use the POLYEURETHANE LAMINATE (PUL) on the over night pads, heavy pads and med flow pads. These are a smart alternative to disposables, especially for those who have a Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.
Pad construction is as follows:
Outer layers can be the following: flannel, cotton, corduroy, bamboo, minky, or fleece.
Panty Liner: 2 flanner soaker layers
Light flow pad: 3 soaker layers
med flow pad: 4 or more soaker layers, PUL layer
Heavy Flow pad: 5 or more soaker layers, PUL layer
Over night heavy flow pad: 6 or more soaker layers, PUL layer
soakers can consist of any combination of the following:
flannel, fleece, terry cloth, bamboo, zorb.
Even though our pads may have 6 or more layers in some of them, they do not feel bulky. They are soft and comfortable. The PUL is hidden so you dont have it against your skin making you sweat.
Use of cloth washable pads may reduce the length and severity of your monthly cycle. Women who have had severe painful long heavy periods have reported a their cycle changing to a 2-3 day much lighter cycle down from a 5-8 day cycle over a time frame of 3-4 months when using the cloth pads.
Use and care: All fabrics have been prewashed in hot water to eliminate shrinkage. Rinse or soak in cold, soapy water or even plain water, until laundry time to keep the pads soft and comfortable. When its that time of the month I keep the used pads in a bucket of water and change it daily until the end of the cycle and then simply wash altogether. Worried about stains? Oxiclean works well at preventing set-in stains and so does ERA. Otherwise, dark patterns camouflage potential stains well or choose lighter colors so that they may be washed with a little color-safe bleach. Pads can be machine washed and dried, but product may last longer if washed in cold water and allowed to air dry. Do not put in the dryer if at all possible and never more than 20 min at a time. Avoid fabric softener as it reduces the absorbency of the pads. NO returns accepted on feminine hygiene products! We are always buying new fabric so fabric choices may differ from that shown in the photographs.
